  • Change is Coming

    Change is Coming

We are rebooting Nordiclarp.org as an online magazine. Instead of only linking to other websites we will produce original content as well as republishing interesting and important texts from the past or other sources. The wiki will remain in its current form, although we are looking into reducing the threshold to start contributing.

We are now looking for a few things.

    • Writers. We need your content, new or old, as long as it’s interesting and relevant.
    • Editors. People who can get others to write and/or edit others texts. This means reading them and giving feedback.
    • Reporters. We want reports from larps, conferences, conventions and other larp events. Text, video, photos, illustrations, podcasts. All welcome.
    • Translators. Help get texts in your local language a global readership!

We will be a group of chief editors, one from each Nordic country. Besides this and the staff mentioned above, we would love to have at least one official national correspondent in each country where there is larp.

This is of course all done non-profit, but you do get the chance to shape the website and get a photo byline.

We need content and staff from all the Nordic countries and the rest of the world where Nordic style larp is happening.

We hope to launch before Knutpunkt 2014 and are especially interested in people who can help do reports from A Week in Gothenburg and Knutpunkt!

    Knutpunkt 2014 Call for Volunteers

Knutpunkt 2014 is need of volunteers. This is what they have to say about it:

Making Knutpunkt is an effort from all of our community. One way for you to contribute is by being part of the on site crew. To make Knutpunkt 2014 possible we need a bunch of great volunteers.

Almost anyone is welcome to be volunteer but we have some requirements. You need to be able to communicate in Swedish and English. You have to be available for volunteering no later than noon 3rd April either in Gothenburg or at Gullbrannagården. As a volunteer you will be expected to work about 4 hours per day.

Read more and sign up to volunteer on the Knutpunkt 2014 website:

  • Book Review: Larps from the Factory

Book Review: Larps from the Factory

Danish larper and larp designer Oliver Nøglebæk has written a review of the larp script collection book Larps from the Factory.

Here is an excerpt from the review:

I know how much work the creators put into making this book and it shows. It is well written and consistent, which is extra impressive considering the huge number of people who actually wrote the larps in the book. It is also lovely to see a book that both celebrates a strong tradition of larpwriting and provides new opportunities to rerun the games or take them apart for use in new projects. It is definitely at in the top of my list of “most useful books on larp.” And together with the Nordic Larp book for the pretty pictures of big larps, I think we’re very well covered when it comes to approachable reading material to introduce the scope of norp to outsiders.

  • Living Games Conference 2014

    Living Games Conference 2014

The Living Games Conference is the first academic conference on larp in the US. The program and academic committees is a veritable who’s who of Nordic and US larp academia. It looks to be a very qualitative and interesting conference.

This is what the organizer have to say about the event:

The Living Games Conference is a live-action roleplaying games conference held at New York University. It will serve as a place where scholars, game designers, and community leaders from across the country and across the world can come together to talk about LARP. Sponsored by the NYU Game Center, the conference will offer panels and discussions by leading innovators in live action games, as well as provide a place for designers to present their work at a games showcase.

They are looking for content, so please check out how you can contribute on their participation page. They are also looking for photo documentation from all kind of larps, send them and attribution information to:
    livinggamesnyc@gmail.com

  • Larp Tumblr Roundup

Recently there has pop-up a couple of Tumblr blogs related to the Nordic larp scene. We mostly handle serious stuff here and in the larps of the Nordic scene, so some humor is a welcome break in the gloom.

The Nordic Larper is about the Nordic larp scene in general:

When You Organize Larps is a bit more Swedish in it’s perspective, but a lot of fun for most larpers:
