A check-in is a code word used ingame to assess or gaugue another players state; essentially if the player is OK and want to continue playing. Used primarily in situations where you are unsure if the person actually want to continue a difficult scene but, for whatever reason, can't convey this. Unless you get a yes in response to the check-in, you are supposed to Cut and talk the situation through.
