J. Tuomas Harviainen is a Finnish larp researcher and game designer. His current research is focused on approaching role-playing as a phenomenon well beyond the scope of just role-playing games. A doctor of philosophy from the from the School of Information Sciences, University of Tampere, Harviainen’s minilarps have been run in at least 14 countries. He is the current executive editor of the International Journal of Roleplaying.
In 2010 he won The Larpwriter Challenge for his game "The Tribunal," a game about the mechanics of oppression.
