This template allows an optional date parameter that records the month and year for when the template was transcluded. If this template is added without the date parameter, [[User:AnomieBOT/source/tasks/TagDater.pm|the date parameter will be added soon after]] by [[User:AnomieBOT|a bot]].

Because it may not be immediately apparent to other editors what the inconsistency is, it is generally helpful to add a brief reason for the tag: {{Tlx|Inconsistent|date{{=}}{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}|reason{{=}}<var>What the problem is.</var>}}. The {{Para|reason}} parameter [[Mouseover|displays when the cursor is placed over]] the template: {{Inconsistent|reason=What the problem is.}}
