The main template should not be used directly; {{tlxs|proposed deletion|reason}} should be used instead. When in the file namespace, this subtemplate will automatically been chosen. The '''subst:''' part is important for technical reasons explained in [[Template:Proposed deletion/doc|that template's documentation]]. This template, "/dated files", should '''not''' be subst: itself (that is, do '''not''' use {{tlxs|proposed deletion/dated files|...}}). Please remember to include an edit summary when proposing a page for deletion or removing the prod tag.
This template will categorize pages into [[:Category:All files proposed for deletion]] and, if used correctly the appropriate dated sub-category (if used incorrectly it puts the article in [[:Category:Proposed deletions needing attention]] instead). See [[Wikipedia:Proposed deletion]] for instructions.
