Persistent play is an ideal of role-playing, where off-game breaks and out-of-character interruptions are avoided to the extent possible. A larper who is playing persistently will strive to be in-character at any moment of the larp, including when just waking up and when performing everyday chores.

Persistent play is the dominant, but not universal, ideal of Norwegian and Swedish mainstream larp as well as of Nordic arthaus larp.
