J. Tuomas Harviainen is a Finnish larp researcher and game designer. His current research is focused on approaching role-playing as a phenomenon well beyond the scope of just role-playing games. A doctoral candidate in game studies at the Department of Information Studies and Interactive Media, University of Tampere, Harviainen’s minilarps have been run in at least a dozen countries. He sits on the editorial board of the International Journal of Roleplaying.
In 2010 he won The Larpwriter Challenge for his game "The Tribunal," a game about the mechanics of oppression.
