This article includes information collected from the Naval Vessel Register, which, as a U.S. government publication, is in the public domain.
Creates an attribution statement and links to ship and service craft detail pages in the Naval Vessel Register (NVR) website.
Usage
This template accepts up to two external links to NVR entries. If you don't provide a parameter, and simply use {{NVR}}
, the template returns the default attribution statement:
- This article includes information collected from the Naval Vessel Register, which, as a U.S. government publication, is in the public domain.
If you provide the url of a ship's (or service craft's) detail page as the first unnamed parameter value, the template will return the attribution statement along with a link to the selected NVR details page:
{{NVR|http://www.nvr.navy.mil/NVRSHIPS/DETAILS/DDG81.HTM}}
produces this:- This article includes information collected from the Naval Vessel Register, which, as a U.S. government publication, is in the public domain. The entry can be found here.
Sometimes the NVR has two detail pages for the same hull under different identifiers. If you provide both urls in the template, it will return the attribution statement and links to both of the detail pages:
{{NVR|{{NVR SC url|id=YTB815}}|{{NVR SC url|id=IX540}}}}
- This article includes information collected from the Naval Vessel Register, which, as a U.S. government publication, is in the public domain. The entries can be found here and here.
Because the NVR has in the past, and may again in the future, changed details of the urls that point to the detail pages that it hosts, editors may be advised to use the templates {{NVR url}}
and {{NVR SC url}}
so that when necessary, a simple change to one or both of these templates restores all of the 'broken' urls.
Articles using this template will be added to the hidden category Category:Wikipedia articles incorporating text from the Naval Vessel Register.
