This image depicts a non-free unit of currency design. For the purposes of Wikipedia, their use is contended to be fair use when they are used for the purposes of commentary or criticism relating to the image of the currency itself. Any other usage of them, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information.

This template should be applied to images of currency whose copyright status is unclear.
When uploading images of currency, editors should take care to understand the copyright status of the currency designs. Currency often falls into its own category for copyright, and the rules of thumb for evaluating public domain and fair use claims for artistic works may not apply.
Some jurisdictions that apply special copyright rules to currency include:
- Ireland: all currency designs are presumed to be under copyright and require a fair use rationale.[1][2]
