The HTML mark up produced by this template includes an [[Wikipedia:Geo (microformat)| Geo microformat]], which makes the location's [[Wikipedia:Geographic coordinate system|coordinates]] (latitude & longitude) [[Wikipedia:Parsing|parsable]], so that they can be, say, looked up on a map, or downloaded to a [[Wikipedia:Global Positioning System|GPS]] unit.
