3. Statistics, links, sources, examples, case studies

4. Questions and networking

10:30-10:50 Project Presentation: ASD students creating Larps (20 min) Erik Strömberg and Helena Hagegård

During a three-year period, 2022–2024, we at LajvVerkstaden have received funding from Allmänna Arvsfonden to work with edu-larp together with students with Autism spectrum disorder. The project is in cooperation with two schools that have students with Autism spectrum disorder. We want to listen to their ideas and start using edu-larp as a means of special education in school. We will both strengthen them as larp creators, and also create larp that comes from their ideas and needs. They are students who have mostly no earlier experience with larp. We are also cooperating with the teachers to create material for other teachers to work with larp, and specifically special needs. We want to present this project to get connections with other people and to show some of the progress and larp-ideas from the students.

10:50-11:20 Reacting to the Past (20 min) Nicolas Proctor and Michaele Ferguson

Reacting to the Past is a published series of immersive historical LARPS intended for use in university classrooms. They are grounded in historical documents ranging from Plato's Republic to the Analects of Confucius to the Treaty of Waitangi. Most have 2-3 sessions of setup, 5-6 sessions of gameplay, and 1-2 sessions for debriefing. They are not widely used outside of North America, so this is a brief introduction to the series. We will leave plenty of time for questions.

11:10-11:30 Paus (20 min)

11:30-12:15 Learning from non-educational larps (45 min) Alvin Lindø

We all know the concept of edularps, but how about making a "non-educational" larp into a learning experience! We will look into the difference between edularps and "other" larps, and have a presentation of "why and how" we should include learning off-game skills and knowledge that aren't designed for the purpose.

After that we will divide into groups and try to come up with different methods.

This program item is aimed at everyone, but might be especially relevant for educators and larp designers who for some reason can't or don't want to run a full-fledged edularp, but still want their larps or their larp experience to be educational.

12:15-13:25 Lunch

13:25-14:55 Let's larp in schools (1 h 30 min) Katrin Geneuss

After having done research on the potential but also on the difficulties of implementing edularp in curricular systems such as schools, I would briefly like to present our main findings. Then, I will present a few concepts that we implement in schools. They try to avoid the main obstacles, so that teachers and students alike get easy access to the learning format of edularp. Depending on the time I get, I will try out some scenes of the roleplaying games with the group (e.g. "Europe, the band", "The party" and "Future Calling").

14:55-15:15 Paus (20 min)

15:15-15:45 Role-playing Game Design Matrix (30 minutes) Josefin Westborg

Working with edu-larp for over a decade I have many times found that I miss words to describe different types of role-playing games in relation to learning. This becomes extra clear when talking about design. This led me to write a paper about what I call the Educational Role-playing Design Matrix that I will present at the academic conference “Transformative Play Initiative Seminar” in October. I would like to share this with others interested in edu-larp so therefore I will here give a preview of the matrix.

15:45-16:00 Wrap up and good bye

Amount of participants: max. 40

During an intense workshop the participants will try some of the most successful and common workshops and debrief methods used by the Swedish larp company LajvVerkstaden for school classes with no earlier larp experience. We will explain how we present and run the workshops and why this has proven to be the best way of doing it.

Design and Evaluation of Science Edu-larps

Josef Kundrát and Jakub Doleček

Amount of participants: 6-25

This workshop will be divided into two parts. In the first part we will examine the possibilities of designing edu-larps about natural sciences (mathematics, physics, chemistry) for elementary schools. We will discuss some recent games from Czech Republic and try to resolve some challenging design issues.

The second part will be about feedback and evaluation of edu-larp games in general. We are going to share some interesting techniques for collecting feedback and reflection from our players, teachers and actors. We are trying to develop a new evaluation method based on construal level theory of psychological distance. Some implications and research challenges will be discussed.

Designing Role Play for Learning

David Simkins

Amount of participants: 10-25

In this workshop we will be working through some of the exciting possibilities of using role play for learning. Looking at a few different ways of implementing role play. We will look at a bit of design and learning theory, and put that theory into practice. Starting with learning goals, we will begin to define design constraints, scope, and structure, and move to defining content for a larp for learning.

Lecture: Edu-larp - A Literature Review

Time: 14.30-15.00
Sarah Lynne Bowman

Summarizing the results of an article from the Wyrd Con Companion Book 2014, this literature review streamlines the various benefits afforded by experiential learning along cognitive, affective, and behavioral dimensions. Larp, simulation, games, and drama are considered alongside one another as cousin forms of experiential pedagogy. Synthesizing both anecdotal and empirical research, this presentation provides an extensive list of some of the potential uses and functions of edu-larp, from classroom activities to professional training to leisure larps with a pedagogical purpose. More quantitative and qualitative research is needed to establish the generalizability of these benefits.

Fish bowl panel: Edularps - Where Are We Now?

Time: 15.00-15.45
Panelists: J. Tuomas Harviainen (panel host), Qla Zetterberg, Heikki Koponen, Sarah Lynne Bowman, Martin Nielsen and possibly you!

Dr J. Tuomas Harviainen hosts the panel, which addresses the current state of edu-larp: Where are we now? What is done around the world? How is edu-larp seen by official instances? Where is edu-larp's potential in the future? The discussion begins with a short video clip and some questions from Esben Wilstrup from EPOS Efterskole, a new role playing school in Denmark.

The panel discussion is in the fish bowl form: One chair is always kept empty for audience members who want to join in. When someone from the audience joins the panel, they get the next commenting turn and become a member of the panel. One of the original panelists needs to leave, but they can of course come back whenever they want to comment on something.

09:00: COFFEE AND WELCOME
Edu-larp design workshop (Siri Sandquist)

Siri Sandquist is an archaeologist turned larp-pedagogue from Sweden. She has been actively organizing and larpwriting since 2013 and working at LajvVerkstaden since 2015 where she is primarily working with edu-larp for formal education. She has previously also worked as a museum pedagogue and have designed a number of larps with themes such as gender and equality, old age, and war/conflicts. She is passionate about larp, feminism, food, and serious thoughts.

Edu-larp: The great number rationing (Leif Amund Lie)

Leif Lie is a teacher of Science in Norway, and has written larps both for his students and for adults.

10:45: PRESENTATIONS
Why edu-larp?

Design talk - Making larp for mandatory participation players (Leif Amund Lie)

I klasserommet har man andre utfordringer enn man har når man setter opp laiver med mennesker som har valgt å delta selv. === LARP: IN RESIDENCY - LIZZIE STARK ===
In Residency is a short, American Freeform-style larp for 10-16 players about the relationship between trauma and art, and about the weird atmosphere of artists’ colonies, where intensely personal daily work rubs up against a claustrophobic cocktail-party environment at night.

For residents at the elite artists’ colony Brython, it represents the chance to live full time as their most secret selves, ignoring everything but their sacred drive to elevate the soul through art. By day, they make art in the beautiful surroundings of a fully staffed mansion, transforming their dark pasts into beauty. By night, they live in a fishbowl of observation and unresolved sexual tension. Will they overcome impostor syndrome to work on the projects they said they would? Will their off-colony relationship survive? Or will it all degenerate into Bacchanalia?

Lizzie Stark is an American larp designer and author who has worked in the intersection between American and Nordic larp design for almost a decade. She is known for her autobiographical documentary book Leaving Mundania (2012), about entering the American larp scene for the first time. She was also one of the main editors of the short larp collection #Feminism (2016), an anthology of short larps written about issues affecting women in our modern society.
Alexandria.dk is a public searchable database of Nordic roleplaying conventions and the games (scenarios, LARPS, designer board games) run on these. The site has been under development since 2000 and was publicly announced on the Danish webforum RPGFORUM at March 1, 2003. It was based on the database model for Project R'lyeh, also coded by Peter Brodersen.

As of February 2023 the site contains information for more than 16,000 scenarios, 8,000 persons, and 2,000 conventions (including 850 from Denmark, 650 from Sweden, 200 from United States, 150 from Ireland, and 100 from Norway).

Some game authors publish the full game as a digital download at the site. A diskette symbol next to a game title denotes that it has downloadable content. About 2,300 scenarios are available for download.

Furthermore, hundreds of periodicals such as magazines, fanzines and club newsletters have been registered with information of more than 7,500 articles. More than 300 issues of magazines have been put online for download as well.

The database is run by Peter Brodersen and opened in 2003. Several volunteers help maintaining and updating the information as editors. In 2020 the source code as well as an API to download all the content from the site was released.

USB mirror
In 2023 Alexandria produced 200 USB drives with the sponsorship of Bastard Café, Copenhagen. These USB drives contains an offline version of all of Alexandria as of April 2023, with more than 2,000 scenarios for download, taking up more than 35 GB of storage.

About 100 drives were handed out for free at Knudepunkt 2023 where Peter also organized a talk about the project. The purpose is to preserve the data and to make sure that the site isn't gatekeeping information.
Anne Serup Grove is a service designer focussing on interactions and communication in both the private and public sector. She has for many years been an organiser at Fastaval where she has worked in the Information, first as an infonaut and later as main coordinator of DIY/GDS - the system with which participants partake in the workload of running a larger volunteer event.

Anne has a background in fashion design and a keen interest in costumes and the role costumes play in larp. She is an activist in the field of costume design inclusion, raising awareness around the challenges clothing sizes and cost represent for many larpers. She has lectured on the topic at e.g. Knutepunkt<nowiki/>s and the Nordic Larp Talks.

Anne was a significant contributor of the 2019 volume Larp Design as its graphic designer, co-editorial team and writer.
Over the course of thirty years, the Nordic larp com- munity has learned a huge amount about the design and analysis of larps. Now, we open the next chap- ter and ask the question, “what do we do when we play?”

This book focuses on the experience, skills, and understanding of the participant. With 85 texts from 73 authors, we’re still just scratching the surface, but we hope that you'll find pieces in here that change the way you play and how you think about it.

As of February 2023 the site contains information for more than 14,000 scenarios, 8,000 persons, and 2,000 conventions (including 850 from Denmark, 650 from Sweden, 200 from United States, 150 from Ireland, and 100 from Norway).

Type 2 fun describes an experience that is challenging while it's happening, but fun in retrospect.

Apparently first used in a larp by Markus Montola on the Facebook group Larpers BFF in 2016, the term appears to have originated from the rock climbing community to describe an experience that was objectively awful (cold, dangerous, uncomfortable) at the time, but which the climber enjoyed in retrospect.

Taken from Three Types of Fun
"Type 2 is a strange beast, because it isn’t actually fun at the moment. In fact, it feels much like suffering. It’s only after the event, and in reflection, that you come to realize you actually had fun. Wading through chest-deep snow, dirty and loose rock, sketchy approaches, hikes that never seem to end, and anything that offers an overriding sense of doom and despair are clear indications you’re having a Type 2 experience."

Using "Type" to describe larps
A Type 2 larp seems to be a larp that deals with difficult themes, or which offers physical challenges such as extremes of temperature, lack of food, intentional sleep deprivation etc. (also commonly referred to as misery larps or sometimes hardcore larps). Increasingly it is used as a synonym for cathartic bleed. By extension a type 1 larp is just plain fun, and a type 3 larp suggests either a specific design choice (in which the experience is not at all intended to be "fun", either in the moment or after), or a design failure.

Cien Años de Soledad larp is a Czech experimental larp introduced in 2016 and played multiple times since then.

Summary
Cien Años de Soledad larp is inspired by the book One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Márquez. The game is trying to explore specific experience and culture of the South American people in drastic changes during one hundered of years it describes. It connects mythical stories with everyday life through intimate stories of one family. To achieve the feeling of the book and magical realism as a genre it uses several game design techniques.

Statistics
The production had 31 players in one game of cca 30 hours.
Before the game, there are few hours of workshops to learn to use specific game techniques and play style fitting with the mood of the game.
There were 6 runs in Czech Republic - two in 2016, two in 2017 and two in 2019.
Participation fee in Czech Republic was cca 80 EUR per run, food and accommodation (camp style) included.

Techniques
*Pre-larp Workshop - workshops game techniques and play style for cca 6 hours.
*Flying Start - at a specific signal.
*Sudden end- specific event ending the story.
*NPC - many, mostly short time appearance.
*Soundtrack - specific sound to create the feeling of time progression.
*Tap Out - non-verbal and Safewords.
*Alter-egos - three players play one character. The game is basically about one family, but that family is there three times - three players play same character in the same story. They can play with each other as an internal monologue or as best friends. Towards others they can play all at once, or as different characters. It is stron part of creating the magical realism of the story and the feeling of repetitivness.
*Reincarnation - each player playes more than one character. The game takes one hundred years, characters die and are born in the game. In the meantime, they can also play ghosts. It is part of creating magical realism and the feeling of repetitiveness.
*Fateplay - each character had scripted story. In this game characters story is set by designers and players know it, they are trying to fulfill that story and give it meaning.
*Taste of Intimacy - sex was symbolised by feeding each other a lolypop.
*Colours of Relationships - relationships of characters were communicated to players through colors of clothes. Players know, the character will have feelings towards a person wearing some kind of color and organizers give people clothes in the game.
*Game Master - giving new inputs in the game. Game designers are free to move in the game as helpers or servants of the characters, their influence is usually managed within a game story.
*Fluid Time - in line with magical realistic genre, time of the game is a divided in parts but they are not binding and too specific.
*Cut Scene - Flashbacks and reinterpretation of the past scenes as much as players want and any time in the game delivering feeling of very fluid time, repetitivness and magical realism.

Game design choices
*Openness - game is cca 80% transparent.
*Scenography - closer to 360°, but not focused on detail.
*Character Creation Responsibility - characters storyline mostly created by organisers with only limited input from players. But it us up to players to interpret the motives of characters actions, which are not clearly stated.
*Runtime Game Mastering - Quite strong influence of Game Masters in the game.
*Story Engine - Collaborative, focused on emotional drama.
*Loyalty to Setting - Playable, strongly inspired by magical realism.
*Bleed-in - Quite differentiated.
*Communication Style - Combined physical and werbal playing.
*Representation of Theme - Abstract related to genre.
*Meta-techniques - Many, see above.
*Player Pressure - Pretense, but mentally demanding, considering quite complex game design.
Some game authors publish the full game as a digital download at the site. A diskette symbol next to a game title denotes that it has downloadable content. About 2,100 scenarios are available for download.

Furthermore, hundreds of periodicals such as magazines, fanzines and club newsletters have been registered with information of more than 4,000 articles. More than 100 issues of magazines have been put online for download as well.

The database is run by Peter Brodersen and opened in 2003. In 2020 the source code as well as an API to download all the content from the site was released.

Player fatigue refers to players being exhausted because of the larp. Specifically designing for player fatigue (e.g. designing a larp where you deliberately mess with participants sense of time, physical comfort or ability to rest etc.) can be a valid design choice, as done by for instance Delirium, Hinterland, Utumno and others.

Common causes
Player fatigue usually originates from violence, intimacy, hunger, thirst, lack of sleep, lack of shelter or lack of sanitation. Replacement rules are often use to shield the players from fatigue in larps where the characters are likely to suffer from fatigue.

Impact on roleplaying
Fatigue can reduce the players capacity to play a larp in a way that contributes to a good experience for themselves and others. However, if the players play characters suffering from fatigue, the player fatigue can also be useful for a stronger immersive experience and more realistic roleplay.

Impact on player safety
Insufficient shielding from fatigue can influence the player safety of a larp, both because the players ability to make wise decisions on safety issues may be impaired and because the fatigue can be dangerous in itself.

Ropecon is both the largest Finnish roleplaying convention organized every summer since 1994 and the association behind it, Solmukohta and other stuff. With more that 3000 visitors each year, it's considered to be the largest non-commercial roleplaying convention in Europe. The three day convention is held in late July or early August. For long it was held in Dipoli conference center in Espoo, but has moved to Helsinki Expo and Convention Center from 2016. Ropecon offers different programs and activities covering the role-playing game field including, not only larp and tabletop, but also board games, miniatures and collectible card games. The program contains games, tournaments, lectures, panels and workshops. Entrance fee to the event is €28 .

Brief History of the event
The first Ropecon was organized 1994 by Niko Mikkanen. Later on it was first organized by Aalto University roleplaying club ORC and then by Ropecon association. The first events were held in Paasitorni and Messukeskus. From 1998 to 2015 the event was held at conference center Dipoli and its vicinity located in Otaniemi, Espoo. Starting from 2016 it has been held at Helsinki Expo and Convention Center in Pasila, Helsinki.

Association
Behind the convention Ropecon, is the association Ropecon. Its purpose is to promote, build up and improve roleplaying, collectible card gaming, boardgaming and miniature gaming in Finland. Not only it organises the roleplaying convention Ropecon every summer, it has also organized Solmukohtas 2004, 2008 and 2012 and Arpacon conventions for beginners at 2009 and 2010.

The association uses the profit it gets from the events to support projects in the Finnish roleplaying scene. It has supported financially different kinds of roleplaying events, larps, conventions and gatherings, published one roleplaying book and two academic books about roleplaying and lends its walkie-talkies and other belongings to different kinds of roleplaying events for free.

Ropecon association has both other associations and individuals as members.

Guests of Honor
From the first event Ropecon has brought Guests of Honors to diversify the event. First larp-GoH was Eirik Fatland at 2002 and the most of the larp GoH:s have been from Nordic countries.
Summary
If I Could See Your Face Again takes place in the small West Virginian mining town of Norton's Gully. Nestled deep in traditional coal country, this tiny town is a place where everybody knows your name, and where God, country, and family stands at the centre of everything.

Together, we will tell the story of how this tiny community reacts to an accident that leaves a skeleton crew of miners caught underground, and the rescue operation that gets set in motion to save them.

The families of the trapped miners are put to the test as both the national and international press centers on their lives, and create a spectacle of their plight and their community. Will the bonds of blood, love, and community be enough to pull them through? Or will they break and shatter under the strain?

You know there is little to no hope of rescue. What would you say if you knew it might be the last words you ever shared? How can you imagine never hearing their voice again? Never feeling their arms around you? How would you keep them alive in your mind, if you could never see their face again?
Penguinhttps://nordiclarp.org/w/index.php?title=Mikkel_Bistrup_Andersen&diff=23611Mikkel Bistrup Andersen2022-02-06T19:04:49Z
Penguin: /* top */Typo fixing, typos fixed: from 2016-2017 → from 2016 to 2017

Summary
“Hello in there” is a larp about growing old, our bodies becoming frail and our minds fraying. It's an attempt to make us better situated to understanding and maybe even prepare us for the challenges that will eventually follow for many of us. It's not a larp that is meant to be comedic or funny beyond the way that ordinary life itself can be. In essence, let the character be the one laughing, not the player.

You are playing a circle of friends that formed when you all moved into the same neighbourhood during 1970–71. Some of you could have been friends longer, but the group as a whole did not come together in this configuration until fairly recently. You are all aged somewhere between 30 and 40. Some might be married, some might have kids, some might be straight, some queer. You are couples that are intertwined with the other couples in ways that will lead to you keeping in some kind of contact with each other as the years pass, but the majority of play will be within the couple.

The term Progressive larp has recently been suggested as a replacement of the current term “Nordic larp”. The idea is that by removing geographical signifiers the Progressive larp movement will be immediately understood as a smaller but internationally diverse movement of artistic and experimental larp design, not as a description of games made in the Nordic countries. It is one of several approaches to larp and makes no claim to be better. Just different.

Known proponents of the term include Swedish-American transmedia and larp-designer Martin Ericsson who suggested the term at the “Nordic larp” conference Knutpunkt 2014 and German larp-designer Stefan Deutsch. The term was first used by journalist and larp-advocate Johanna Koljonen.

History
Progressive larp comes from a tradition that views larp as a valid form of expression, worthy of debate, analysis and continuous experimentation, which emerged around the Knutepunkt convention. It typically values thematic coherence, continuous illusion, action and immersion, while keeping the larp co-creative and its production noncommercial. Workshops and debriefs are common.

Controversy
The term has been criticized in many online discussions and many arguments have been made for and against the use of the term and how it relates to the term Nordic Larp.. The term prognorp was jokingly invented to join the concepts of Nordic larp and progressive larp.

Barda is a TV programme in which children are sent off on quests into the magic realm of Barda. The programme originated in Danmark, where it was aired for the first time in 2005. It is produced by the TV production company EYEWORKS. The concept was developed by role-player Martin Rauff-Nielsen along with producers Mette Mailand and Mariella Harpelunde Jensen.

The concept was sold to the Swedish TV station SVT, and to the Norwegian TV station NRK.

Impact
According to Martin Rauff-Nielsen, the idea behind Barda was to popularise roleplaying games for children between age 6–12. Although the link has never been truly proved, it is fair to assume that Barda is the main reason why Danish children's larps have gone from being an underground activity to becoming a well-known and accepted hobby for children.

New World Magischola (NWM) is a North American Nordic-style larp inspired by College of Wizardry. A team of Americans, led by Maury Brown and Ben Morrow, founded Learn Larp LLC to bring Nordic-style larp principles and experiences to the US and Canada. NWM debuted in June 2016 on the college campus of the University of Richmond, with four runs of 135-165 people. To date, more than 1,000 unique players have experienced NWM.

New World Magischola is a wizard-school larp in which players portray students or faculty members attending a North American magical college. The experience runs for four days and three nights for 80-160 players, who are divided among five school houses. The larp's themes deal with identity, growing up, confronting institutions, parental and societal expectations, problematic privilege, and the ethics of magical use. Characters are written gender-neutral, with the player deciding what gender to portray. The default pronoun in the Magimundi (the magical universe) is "they" and NWM was among the first larps to use player and character pronouns by default on name tags.

New World Magischola was the largest Nordic style larp organized in the United States, though not the first. NWM was the first larp to introduce the OK Check-In safety mechanic, and the first to test Trine Lise Lindahl's and Johanna Koljonen's "Lookdown" bow-out mechanic. The pronoun-correction mechanic was also first introduced at New World Magischola.

The larp has spawned a children's week-long larp adventure, Magischola Prep, which introduces young people ages 11–17 to collaborative larp concepts.

“Odysseus” was a Finnish Larp set in a starship fleeing the genocide of mankind. Part scifi adventure, part Shakespearean drama, Odysseus was the first international blockbuster game in this scale organized in Finland. Through its futuristic setting, the game explores the inner turmoils of societies and human beings after a catastrophic collapse.

Odysseus
Setting and Themes
Odysseus was a story about survival. It was heavily inspired by Battlestar Galactica. Team created a fully working across-the-board starship environment with light, sound, operating systems and 360-scenography. Concrete work done by the character groups (e.g. pilots, technicians, medics, scientists, and soldiers) affected the running of the whole ship. The emphasis was on the concrete lives of the crew and passengers: in their workdays and their free time in a time filled with crises. As much emphasis than creating a realistic spaceship was put on creating the story and the character. Odysseus had fully pre-written and fleshed characters with ready-made networks of meaningful relationships.

Summary
Story of the larp takes place 800 years in the future far away in the stars in a place called the Arati system. There is the planet Ellarion and its two moons, Caelena and Osiris, which form the EOC Nation. This civilization was formed over five hundred years ago by people who were part of an exodus from Earth called the Genesis project. Most of the information about the Genesis journey and the distant home of their ancestors, was lost during the exodus. It was only known that there was some incident during the journey that corrupted most of the databases, and thus only stories and memories remained.

The larp started seven days after an enemy called The Machines attacked the EOC Nations and wiped out all major cities in a coordinated strike. Remnants of human civilization are fleeing this overwhelming enemy. The game follows the journey of a small military ship, ESS Odysseus, that starts out alone and during the game picks up more survivors, meets the fleet, and reaches the position where it is up to the players to decide the fate of their civilization.

Statistics
The production had 312 players split in 3 runs. There was over 180 volunteers participating in creation of the larp.
Robota was a larp in Spain about Western corporate culture and illegal immigration using the trappings of a post-apocalyptic setting. It was the first bilingual larp in Spain, with full English language support and full integration of foreigners.

The factory was an echo of the contemporary world of contractual obligations and social bindings. Without it, the characters could not survive. The factory Robota provided meaning alongside with food, shelter and entertainment. Outside there was only violence, scarcity and a hopeless life, and deprived desperate people wanted to be a part of this harsh paradise. The setting of the larp was The Wasteland - the dystopic, surrealist and twisted landscape of Europe in the near future.

The first run was made in August 2014.
End of the line was the first official larp under the One World of Darkness produced by White Wolf and Odyssé since the intellectual property was purchased by Paradox Entertainment in October 2015. It featured a rave frequented by vampires, and the main themes were hunting and being hunted.

The first run of the larp took place as part of A Week in Finland before Solmukohta 2016, at Lapinlahden sairaala, a former mental asylum near central Helsinki that is now used for cultural events. The play area was a building off to the side of the hospital that recently housed squatters.

The larp was run again in Berlin in 2017, as part of World of Darkness Berlin.

As of October 2021 the site contains information for more than 9,900 scenarios, 5,500 persons, and 1,400 conventions (including 700 from Denmark, 500 from Sweden, and 100 from Norway).

Some game authors publish the full game as a digital download at the site. A diskette symbol next to a game title denotes that it has downloadable content. About 1,900 scenarios are available for download.

Furthermore, hundreds of magazines, fanzines and club newsletters have been registered with information of more than 3,500 articles.

The database is run by Peter Brodersen and opened in 2003. In 2020 the source code as well as an API to download all the content from the site was released.

stub
A code word to indicate that what follows is non-diegetic information, a sign that a player makes to communicate that they are not present diegetically or a symbol to indicate that an object is not diegetically interactable or should be ignored.

Signs
Several hand gestures or signals have been in use in the Nordic larp scene (and elsewhere, perhaps universally) since at least the 1990s, and spread organically over time. A common one being forming a "T" (for timeout) with the hands or raising a fist above the head. The "timeout" sign is most often used by players engaged in diegetic conversation when they either need to ask a non-diegetic question or convey important non-diegetic information to the other player somewhat discreetly. The fist over the head is commonly used to indicate that the player is to be ignored, i.e. is not present diegetically (for instance if a "dead" character needs to move somewhere encountering other players on the way).

Symbols
A symbol very common in Sweden (and also in Norway, with a slight variation) is the "off-game rune" (also known as Utgårdsrunan, "Outyards rune") which indicates that an object (such as a chest or door) is not "in-game", and should be ignored. Commonly used to mark a pouch or similar carried during the larp in which the player stores non-diegetic items they need during the larp (such as medicine, a phone or other items). The creation of the Off-game rune is attributed to Gabriel Sandberg in the 1990s.

In some Nordic larps, especially geared towards international players, the symbol has simply been replace with the text "OFF GAME".

Code words
Sometimes during the course of the larp a player might need to ask another player something out of game discreetly and then quickly return to playing by using a code word - often in conjunction with a hand signal such as timeout. This has for instance been used to convey some diegetic effect that is not obvious ("You have been poisoned"), to ask for knowledge that the character would know but the player might not or any other non-diegetic information that cannot be easily conveyed diegetically (e.g. "I'm an organizer and I need to get out of this scene because I have important things to do" or "You might recognize me as a character I played previously but I've actually switched characters").

Before there were established check-in/calibration techniques code words like these were also used for that purpose, for instance to check if a player was comfortable with a certain action or wanted to deescalate or escalate.

EntreReVs is an annual Spanish larp convention which has been running since 2013. It is organized in different locations around Spain to avoid associations with local groups and styles.

It includes lectures, workshops, debates and, in a smaller number, short larps. However, the most relevant in EntreReVs is the chance to meet creative people from all over Spain (and hopefully from other places too in the near future) with different ideas and approaches regarding larp.

Its short-term goals are:

-To provide a meeting point for those interested in larping. Improving the cooperation among the different groups from all over Spain to ease the exchange of ideas.

-To become the Spanish larp's showcase for the international larp community.

EntreRevs will provide English activities from 2016. Any non Spanish speaker can collaborate either in person or via pre-recorded video or streaming.
