Larp Design Conference 2016
2016-09-01 - 2016-09-04€150
Larp Design Conference 2016 (LDC 2016) is a three-day event for larp designers at Palac Krobielowice in Poland. It takes place from September 1-4, 2016. The price is 150€. There are 50 spots available.
We have three goals with LDC
Goal #1: To share knowledge about design elements both big and small
How did the western larp Hell on Wheelsdo character booklets? How did the horror larp Mare Incognitum do sound effects? How did CoW handle the press?
LDC is meant to be a place of sharing what’s worked and what hasn’t. Every program item is about exactly that – talking about what we’ve actually done.
It’s a conference aimed at a European audience, but everyone is welcome. And it’ll be 100% in English.
Goal #2: To connect larp designers from different scenes with each other
What’s going on in the Spanish larp scene right now? Who do you reach out to, if you want to learn more about larp in Latvia? What about Palestinian larp?
We want to create a space where there is a chance to meet larp designers from scenes you’re normally not part of. You’ll come home with an expanded network.
The conference will feature not just keynotes and lectures, but also for trying out methods and techniques
Goal #3: To produce texts and videos that can be spread digitally
If you can’t be at LDC, there should still be a chance to learn from it. We’re designing the conference to be documentable from the very beginning.
Among the LDC organizers are film makers, book publishers and other people who are passionate about documentation.
This means that there will be videos of talks, and texts summarizing some of the knowledge shared. All for free online.
Made by an International Team
LDC is organized by the international team behind larps like Demeter, Fairweather Manor and College of Wizardry. Most of us have also been involved in doing larp conferences like Knutepunkt, KOLA, Mittelpunkt, ELC and larp gatherings like this.
Now we’re doing something with a different focus – because we feel that larp design is something we can get much better at sharing. And LDC is a good place to go for that.
